March 17, 2017: ST. Patrick's Day

Hey guys!! So my time at the mtc is finally coming to a close, I´m not going to lie it feels like I have been here for FOREVER! On Tuesday morning I´m going to get on a bus with 6 other missionaries and head to Santos, It´s about an hour bus ride from here so it shouldn't be too bad. I am a little nervous to try out my Portuguese full time. Proselytizing last week was so great, we we able to hand out 6 Book of Mormons and get 3 referral cards. But when we got back on the bus to head to the CTM I was exhausted, sadly I´m not fluent yet ;) But I have learned so much being here that I kind of wanted to tell you guys a story. On our first day here in Brazil after our orientation they showed us our rooms and gave us two hours to shower and take a nap. And when I got in the shower there were little bugs and black hairs everywhere, all over the walls. The water was ice cold and dripped out of the shower on full blast and there was a little lizard crawling on the ceiling above me. And as

March 10, 2017: One month mark and COCKROACHES

So I made it to my one month mark as a missionary this week! woohoo! Time has really started to fly here, we are always moving and learning! The rest of my provo district surprised us (and the CTM workers) by showing up on a plane on Monday! We were all so happy, but then we realized that there was no way they would have left a district of 14 happen so we got split so I am in my third district in 4 weeks! The split was a little hard, we got new teachers, new rooms, new (fake) investigators and so that took a little adjusting to but we also got new friends! The Japanese speaking elders are next to us and they are soo fun! They all learned english from netflix and video games so we all just talk and laugh together and call it language study! ;) My Portuguese is coming I was able to do a whole temple session in Portuguese today so that was AMAZING! and tomorrow we load on a bus and they drive us to the busiest street in Sao Paulo and we get to give out Book Of Mormons for a few hours! I’

February 24, 2017: Important things that you should know!

Hey guys!! I totally realize that I have only been gone for only three weeks but it feels like I've been gone for about 12 years! But I love it so much here! And I thought this would be the best way to tell you as quickly as possible (because we have 45 minutes of email time and I've spent half of it trying to read everything, thanks guys love you!!) 1. There is absolutely no air conditioning in the bed rooms so at night its best to try and move at least possible to hopefully lesson the amounts of crazy sweating that takes place. The top bunk by the door is the BEST bunk because it gets the most of the rotating fan time, laying in bed sweating at night you figure out the ratios of fan for each bed.. :) 2. If you really really really love the food here like I do its important to go hard during our 45 minute gym time haha! They have a scale outside the cafeteria that everyone uses, its pretty funny! But the food here is INCREDIBLE! I love everything I eat, and may or may

March 3, 2017: Wow, 3 weeks already!

Wow! I´m kind of blown away that I have been gone for 3 weeks! Some days it feels like I left home yesterday and sometimes I´m pretty sure that I have been gone for 12 years it’s so crazy here! So.. a little bit about this week, At the CTM here we get to go on splits with Brazilian missionaries three times a week. It super fun and super hard because when we teach together they talk like normal Brazilians which is SUPER FAST, like if I don’t pay attention for 2 seconds I have no idea what is going on, it is so fast. But its awesome, I love the Brazilians so much! My comp last week was Sister Brito! She’s not actually Brazilian, she is from Cape Verde so she and I just talked and talked about the little island country we love so much! She lived on Fogo island, so not one that I got to go to during my time there, but she was teaching me songs in Creole and  that was awesome! Also during all our lessons she would play with my hair which felt really good but then I would almost fall asleep

February 14, 2017: Letter from MTC Sao Paolo President

Dear Parents, Sister Grahl and I are very happy to let you know that your missionary has arrived safely at the Brazil Missionary Training Center.  What a great joy and privilege it is to greet each missionary as they begin their missionary experiences with us! We will surely take good care of your missionary.                                                                                                       The missionaries now have companions and are settled into their rooms.  They are assigned to a district with capable and caring instructors for language and lesson study.  Their branch presidents and wives will meet them this Sunday.  These wonderful couples are richly blessed as they work with, motivate, and interview the missionaries assigned to their branch. The MTC has a physician to care for their health needs. We are also happy to report that the MTC food is plentiful, healthy and very good. Your missionary will be able to e-mail home on Preparation Day after a morn

February 14, 2017: ARRIVED in BRAZIL

Okay so this has been such a crazy few days!!! Our flight to Brazil got delayed for two hours while they unloaded and reloaded the baggage a few billion times! It was so crazy, traveling was really fun for the first few hours. In the Utah airport everyone kept coming up to us  and asking about our missions and some people even bought us breakfast, we all sat in different parts of the plane on our way to Texas so we all got to share the gospel but then we got to Texas and were just sooo tired and Hungry so we ate and called ya´ll. And thats basically why I was sobbing on the phone because I was so tired and so happy to hear your voice. Then we got on the plane and sat there and sat there for two hours like I said, and flew here! Ugh, It was such a long flight I wanted to die and curl up in a ball! So I don’t really have time to read all your emails, because the flight was so late we are just running around this crazy building. Which leads me to my next thing IT IS SOOOOOO SOOOOOO SOOOO
